Mas de Daumas Gassac

Mas de Daumas Gassac is the wine that put the south of France on the serious wine map in the 1980s, made by the Guibert family on a small estate near Montpellier. The red is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon grown in unusually cool red soil — unusual enough that critics once compared it to Bordeaux.
